Chicks

Bald eagles are solitary birds. A pair of eagles builds a nest in the top of a large tree near rivers, lakes and marshes. These birds prefer remote isolated areas where nobody disturbs them. Most nests are used for many years, but a pair may have several nests and use them alternatively. Both parents take part in incubation. There are usually two eggs in the nest, but only the strongest eaglet survives.

Bald Eagles are large raptors. They are the only eagles unique to North America. These birds range from Alaska and Canada to northern Mexico. According to statistics, about half of the world’s 70,000 bald eagles live in Alaska. The bird is the national symbol of the United States. The Bald eagle is a member of the sea and fish eagle group. One of the most interesting facts about Bald eagles is the size of their wingspan. It is a spectacular sight to observe this bird soaring high in the sky. The Bald eagle’s preferred habitat is complex layer vegetation with a high density of woody, fruiting shrubs. These chicks are featured on many pictures available through breeders.
